Joshua is now 17 months and we're at a peak in the separation anxiety phase. He is especially attached to Daddy right now, and cries whenever Ryan leaves the room.
He's never cried when we've left him a babysitter before, but last week as we drove off to meet some friends, he was at the front window bauling. It broke my heart.
So, just as we get ready to leave him in the nursery at church, we're starting this lovely stage.

The other night I was tucking Summer into bed. After reading, we snuggled and I started to sing to her, when the following conversation occurred:
Summer: "Mommy, stop singing!"
Mommy: "Why?"
Summer: "Because your breath is scaring me away."
Mommy (laughing): "Why?"
Summer: "Because it stinks!"
Mommy (a little embarrassed): "It does? Does it smell like poo?"
Summer: "No, it smells like dinner."

Well, as of yesterday, the 9th, I'm officially 30 years old. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm definitely a little more worried about wrinkles (I now wear sunscreen - remember those days of laying out in the sun slathered in baby oil?), I dye my graying hair, my knees are creeky (is that from the old cheerleading days or from running?), and I honestly feel my metabolism creeping to a grinding halt.
My twenties were fun... college, getting married, living in LA enjoying 2 incomes and the freedom of being just a couple, then buying and fixing up a house and squeezing out a couple of kids. Good times.
But... I must say that I'm glad those things are behind me and I'm grateful for the milestones that lie ahead.
